Väki Films

Väki Films is a Helsinki-based film production company founded in 2019. The word Väki derives from the Finnish language and traditionally refers to mythic forces believed to reside in beings and places — a word that today also means “people,” yet still carries the echo of power and presence. This dual meaning reflects our work: films shaped by human experience, guided by a creative force that does not need to be explained.

 

We focus on socially engaged films that explore the world in its full complexity. Our approach is rooted in strong artistic authorship — a belief that the filmmaker’s hand, vision, intuition, and sensitivity must lead the process. Each film is carefully crafted, seeking the intersection between artistic expression and social relevance. We aim to open spaces for reflection rather than provide easy answers. We make films that look closely, ask difficult questions, and invite audiences to feel, think, and see the world anew.
