Väki Films' feature documentary SILENT LEGACY will have its world premiere at the prestigious 78th Locarno Film Festival, in the Semaine de la critique / Critics’ Week section — a programme that annually selects only seven documentaries known for bold cinematic language and urgent contemporary themes.

Directed by Jenni Kivistö and Jussi Rastas, SILENT LEGACY explores themes of identity, belonging and global inequality through the intimate story of Sibiry, a West African choreographer living between two worlds. His journey blends personal narrative with contemporary dance, offering a cinematic reflection on the pressures and expectations placed upon migrants today.

Locarno is one of Europe’s most respected film festivals, and the selection marks a significant recognition for Finnish documentary filmmaking on the international stage.

SILENT LEGACY is produced by Ella Ruohonen for Väki Films (Finland), with co-producers Ellis Films (France) and Pilumpiku Production (Burkina Faso). The film has been supported by the Finnish Film Foundation, AVEK, Kirkon mediasäätiö, CNC and Procirep–Angoa, and produced in collaboration with Yle and France Télévisions.
